Board of Directors Updates: |
The 2024 Board of Directors is focused on finding ways to decrease costs and increase revenues in an effort to generate the funds needed to complete needed capital improvements in the community, whether they be paving roads or upgrading facilities and equipment. To that end, we have set up committees/think tanks to deal with a number of initiatives intended to meet that objective.
Throughout the process of these initiatives, we welcome community involvement, comment, and input. If one of the initiatives mentioned here interests you, please contact the Board member who is leading that initiative and give him your thoughts.
All initiatives are being undertaken in concert with Bent Tree staff.
Arty Allen will be leading an initiative to look at the viability of the Bent Tree Fire Department. This initiative will do a cost/benefit analysis of the Fire Department and explore alternatives to ensure the community that its resources are well invested and that it is protected.
Charles Rice will lead an initiative to explore the possibility of allowing non-residents to use the Bent Tree Amenities. The purpose of this initiative is to generate revenue for Bent Tree. Major goals of this initiative will be to ensure that non-residents are not subsidized by residents and that access to Bent Tree Amenities are priced appropriately.
Michael Kahn will lead an initiative intended to increase food service revenue. While Michael’s committee will offer suggestions to staff, the primary goal is to increase food service revenue through internal marketing, promotions, special events, etc.
Ralph Morse will lead a team focused on the Stables. Their goals are to reduce Stables subsidies and to find a model that will ensure long-term viability of the stables.
Brian Feehan and Laird Carmichael will lead a team focused on developing and implementing plans for the Sharp Top Property and the Campground. While this may include recommending sale of the properties, the preference is to develop the properties in ways that provide ongoing revenue for Bent Tree.
We also plan to address modifications to the Bent Tree CC&R’s. We would expect to have multiple Town Halls to explore and discuss possible CC&R changes. At this time, I am leading this effort.
Updates on all of these initiatives will be provided at each Board meeting. You are invited to attend to keep up with the Board’s progress.

Public Safety Updates:

Electrical Safety and Fire Prevention – Summary
Over the past two weeks, we have covered many basic things people can do around their homes to promote fire and electrical safety. There are approximately 24,000 residential fires caused by electrical issues each year. Our goal is to help the community avoid common mistakes that can lead to these dangerous incidents. Please follow the link below to access the final short video in our series on electrical safety and fire prevention. It provides a very good summary of the previous topics.

Transponder Renewals – TIME IS ALMOST UP!
There are less than 2 weeks left to renew your transponders for 2024. Many residents have already handled this and found the new process to be very quick and easy. Transponders not renewed before 3/1/2024 will be deactivated. Because of the major audit completed last year, the process for 2024 renewal is much simpler. FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW to find out everything you need to know.

Bent Tree Stables is part of our community, and we would like you to be part of the Stables.
How can you connect with this great and unique amenity? Check out our events this year and select a few that work with your calendar. Looking forward to seeing you.
Summer Camp registration is open. Just as a reminder, space is limited and we already have campers enrolled, so do not procrastinate to register. This Horse Camp tradition takes place from June through July. There are 4 weeks of camp for children ages 6 to 13. The camp is Monday through Fridy from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. It’s a comprehensive camp with half days spent on equestrian activities with campers learning riding skills as well has horse care skills. The other half of the day includes art and crafts, games, and water activities (so there is a little something of interest for every attendee and of course activities are age appropriate). The cost is reasonable, for one week it’s $550, for two weeks $1,000 and for all 4 weeks $1800.
If you are interested in sponsoring a scholarship for a camper in need, we would like to hear from you. If you are interested in volunteering for the camp, we have plenty of options for that as well, and if you have a camper that you want to enroll in this fabulous immersive experience, please click here and download and complete the registration form. Submit camp payments with the registration form to Bent Tree Stables, 2225 Tamarack Dr. #20092, Jasper GA 30143. To volunteer or sponsor, please call 706-692-6322 or email btstables@etcmail.com. Thanks for supporting this unique experience.
