Pickens
Community Thrift Store – Grant Appreciation
Bent Tree Fire Rescue would like to extend its appreciation to the Pickens Community Thrift Store. The thrift store recently awarded our department a $1,000 grant to help purchase a special calibration device for our gas detectors. We use our gas detectors routinely to investigate reports of potential gas leaks in and around homes. The calibration devices purchased through the grant allow us to test them in-house without having to take them out of service to send to a costly outside source.
The Pickens Community Thrift Store is staffed entirely by volunteers with the common goal of helping others. Proceeds from donations to the thrift store get returned to the Pickens County community through quarterly grants to non-profit groups to provide services and meet the needs of others. Our department is grateful to receive such a grant that will assist us tremendously in providing life-saving services to the community.
The Bent Tree Activities Committee invites you to join us for our upcoming events and activities! Our incredible group of volunteers stay busy keeping Bent Tree filled with fun opportunities to meet your neighbors. Please be sure you are a member of the Bent Tree website and stay up to date on all things BTAC by using our calendar and the Activities Commitee page! Keep reading to see what's new.
Your Bent Tree Animal Shelter needs Fancy Feast canned cat food - any variety and IAMS dry cat food as well as kitten canned and dry food. We could also use some sensitive stomach canned dog food. We have 5 beautiful kittens and 13 cats that are reminding us to get more food. Right now, we don’t have any dogs (that can change in a second) but we have had 4 dogs in the last several weeks who have eaten up most of our canned food. If no one is at the shelter canned donations can be left on the porch. Bags of dry should be set in the cottage in case of rain or bears. We are donation funded/volunteer run, serving our community 365 days a year. If you would like to visit our shelter, volunteer or have questions please call or text 678-414-1047
