Public Safety Updates:

BENT TREE EVACUATION ROUTES

A widespread evacuation of our community would be a very high stress situation for most people. That is not the time to become familiar with our evacuation routes. Prepare and learn this information now to be ready if the time ever comes to utilize these routes.

A tremendous amount of work is put into maintaining our routes. We also recently added signs throughout the community to easily guide residents to each route. Please follow the link below to the Bent Tree website to access a document that provides all relevant details for each evacuation route and how to navigate it.

Note from the Editor: Submissions to The Echo

We have been receiving many wonderful submissions to The Echo, and we are saddened when each one cannot make it into the issue. When space does not allow, the publisher sends us a proof with what they think is best from what we provided. If we do not approve the proof, a few factors are used to make the final decision: when the article was submitted, the space it takes, the urgency of the information, the relevance to a possible theme of that issue, and the relevance to Bent Tree. This sometimes means pushing some submissions to future issues, but please continue to submit. We work hard to make sure we find a place for them.

Administration & Board Updates:

Meet The Candidates

The Meet the Candidates event will be Sunday afternoon at 2PM in the lower level of Club Tamarack.  Please plan to attend to meet the candidates who are running for the Bent Tree Board of Directors.  Ballots will be sent on Tuesday, the 13th.  In addition to voting for Board members, you will be asked to vote on a change to the allocation of the proceeds of the Capital Improvement Assessment.  Currently the proceeds are divided 80% to Water System Improvements and 20% to Road Widening.  You will be asked to vote to change the allocation to 50% for Water System Improvements and 50% for Road Improvements.  This change will ensure that there are adequate resources for needed capital improvements to the Bent Tree water system and provide additional resources for paving of our roadways.  The Board intends to double resources used for paving over the next five years compared to the previous five years.  This modification will help to make that possible while still ensuring that our water system receives the resources it needs.

There will be a Town Hall meeting on the 22nd of August at 6:30PM in the lower level of Club Tamarack to discuss proposed changes to the CC&R’s.  CC&R ballots will be distributed in early September.  Please plan to attend this town hall to be sure you are educated on the proposed changes.

News From the Courts Pro

Friendly Reminder: Outdoor Court Use.

Just a quick note to remind everyone that while our outdoor courts are free to use when not occupied, organized outdoor play does require payment if you're not a Courts member. Round robins are open to all, but only Courts members can play without a fee.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Happy playing! 🎾

Happy Fall Bent Tree, what a wonderful time of the year it is for us here in the north GA mountains. Leaves are changing and the landscape is gorgeous.  This also is that time of year where we will host our 14th Annual Tennis and Pickleball Scholarship Tournament (Some residents are totally unaware of the great efforts made in “giving back” to our community through the Bent Tree Foundation). This event benefits our graduating seniors who have participated in high school tennis their junior and senior years, or are a part of our tennis youth program here in Bent Tree.  They are eligible  to apply for up to $2500 initially. Then they are also able to apply again after completion of their freshman year provided they have passing grades and are in good standing with the college of their choice. This is an amazing gift to help offset the high cost of secondary education. If you own a business or just want to contribute yourself, to this worthy cause, please reach out to us. You may never truly realize the impact you have had on a young person by you donation.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter

Thank you Bent Tree

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been coming out to support the Tavern. Your presence has truly made a difference, and we’re excited to continue serving you!

Join us this afternoon for our FriYAY Fish & Chips lunch special, and don’t forget to punch your Lunch Bunch card. Saturday night Prime Rib has been a huge hit, and we’re looking forward to seeing you there again. Don’t miss Sunday Brunch at the Tavern—it will be a menu service, not a buffet.

Please continue to be patient with our staff as they adjust to higher volumes and continue their training. We're actively interviewing to accommodate the extra business. New menus are coming out on August 20th, so you may notice some items depleting as we prepare for the new offerings.

Thank you again for your support and patience during this transition. We’re excited about the future and can’t wait to share it with you!

Trail Facts

Size and weight

There is a direct correlation between the size of the rider and the size of a horse. A rule of thumb is that a horse can carry between 15-20% of their own body weight. Western saddles can weigh anywhere between 30 to 60 pounds. So, the stable master and barn manager have to take this into consideration while pairing riders to horses. The age of the horse and the frequency with how often the horse is working all impact the rider and horse pairing. The Trail rides are busiest Friday through Sunday, so for the best selection of dates and times call early or choose Monday through Thursday. Either way, call today to schedule your next ride: (706) 692-6322. See you on the trails!

A watershed is an area of land whose streams drain into a single body of water. The Bent Tree watershed includes all Bent Tree as well as surrounding mountains that drain into Lake Tamarack. Healthy watersheds provide great benefits to the people and wildlife that live there. Current Wildlife Wednesday posts highlight some critters with tight ties to the streams in our watershed.
