Public Safety Updates:

CHECKING YOUR GAS GRILL FOR LEAKS

Last week, we reviewed some basic grilling fire safety tips. We hope everyone passed the test or learned some valuable information. Now, we’re going to focus on gas grills and how to check them for leaks. Gas grills are within Bent Tree Rules and Regulations to use, but the use of propane can lead to dangerous situations if there is a leak. Please follow the link below to our website to access a very short video with instructions on checking your gas grill for safe operation.

GAS GRILL LEAK CHECK

Administration & Board Updates:

A Message From the Architectural Committee

Now that summer is upon us, it is important to remember that all boats (inflatables included) must not be visible from the road, or any neighboring lot, unless you live on a lakefront lot.  Then your boats are allowed to be just off the greenbelt along the lake.  Kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, and other hard watercraft may be stored at the Marina if they are currently registered and paid for 2024 at the Administrative Office.

News from The Stables

Do you have children? Do you have grandchildren? Do you have neighbors who have children? Do you know any children? Were you ever a child? If you answer yes to any of the above Read on. Do you remember being taught to look both ways before crossing? How about Stop, look and listen? And maybe don’t talk to strangers? These are all centered around keeping us safe. Summer is here and there are more people visiting Bent Tree and more children riding because of summer camp. PLEASE keep safety top of mind.

  1. SLOW DOWN. The speed limit near the stables is 15 MPH, not 20.
  2. STAY IN YOUR LANE. If horses are on the road, which sometimes happens, stay in your lane.
  3. GIVE A WIDE BERTH. If you are passing horses, move over and slow down.
  4. EDUCATE YOUR VISITORS. Please tell your friends that horses may be on the road.
  5. LEASH YOUR DOG. When horses are approaching, please have your dog under control.

Animals are unpredictable and the more precautions we make to mitigate crisis situations the better experience for everyone. Recently 5 people were on a trail ride, including the guides, and the horses were stopped at the spillway waiting for a car to cross. One rider was a young teenager who was on a horse for the 2nd time in her life. For whatever reason, the driver chose to gun the car; water sprayed high above the car wheel wells, splashing and created an unexpected environment. Fortunately, the horses remained calm, but the situation could easily have turned into a calamity. Please be thoughtful regarding sharing the road with riders and horses.
