Rules and Regulation Update – 1/24/23

On 1-24-23, the Board of Directors approved amendments to the Bent Tree Rules and Regulation regarding the noise policy, parking for persons with disabilities, and reckless driving.  The changes that were made will have a positive impact on safety and quality of life within our great community.  Below is a summary of the changes.

VI, D – Noise Policy
One of the major changes to the noise policy involves the use of a sound level meter (Decibel Meter) by Public Safety Officers to determine violations.  This is very important, because it provides a very reasonable standard to measure potential violations.  As you will see when viewing the new rule in detail, the allowable noise level lowers as evening hours progress.  Vehicle audio systems, loud mufflers, and nuisance dogs are also addressed by the new policy.  The fine for the first two violations is $250 with subsequent fines being $500.  I have personally tested the decibel meter in different situations and believe that residents will find our enforcement of the noise policy to be very reasonable and beneficial to the community.

VII, F, 1 – Designated Parking Places for Persons with Disabilities
There is not much explanation required for this amendment.  This rule specifically addresses handicapped parking and provides an appropriate fine of $250 for violations.

VII, F, 2, I – Reckless Driving
The only change made to this rule is that it is considered reckless driving to have a speeding violation in close proximity to horseback riders.  The fine for reckless driving is $250, which did not change.

We
had two wonderful kitty adoptions in January. We know Oreo and Chloe are loving their new homes.  So happy for these girls!  There are plenty of great cats at the shelter just waiting for you to come to visit.

The Animal Shelter Open House will be Sunday, Feb 12 from 1 pm to 4 pm.

There will be refreshments and info in the cottage as well as visiting the cats in the shelter. Hope you to see you there!

The Pickens County Animal Shelter has a sweet boy dog starting heartworm treatment and he needs a calmer environment than the county shelter to go through his treatment. Be Paws We Care will be covering all the medical costs.  Cooper is a sweet med-sized dog that was found as a stray and no one ever came forward to claim him.  He will be up for adoption after his treatment is finished.

If you would like to meet any of our kitties, donate, volunteer, or are interested in finding out more about fostering Cooper, please call or text LuAnn Chambers at 678-414-1047.
