Public Safety Updates:

HOME ESCAPE PLANS

It is very important for everyone to have and practice a home escape plan in case of a fire. The vast majority of people will never experience the tragedy of a housefire. Therefore, it’s easy to just forget about the threat they pose or believe it will never happen to you. Unfortunately, that mindset is what leads to terrible outcomes in emergency situations. Home fires should be taken very seriously and planned for.

If you do not have a home escape plan, please take the time to create one as soon as possible. We recommend practicing your plan on a monthly basis. Please follow the link below to our website to access a short video with more details. The video, and some of those that are upcoming, are somewhat geared toward children. The information is valuable for all ages though, and we do encourage parents to involve their children in fire safety education.

Note from the Editor: Submissions to The Echo

We have been receiving many wonderful submissions to The Echo, and we are saddened when each one cannot make it into the issue. When space does not allow, the publisher sends us a proof with what they think is best from what we provided. If we do not approve the proof, a few factors are used to make the final decision: when the article was submitted, the space it takes, the urgency of the information, the relevance to a possible theme of that issue, and the relevance to Bent Tree. This sometimes means pushing some submissions to future issues, but please continue to submit. We work hard to make sure we find a place for them.

We’re thrilled to announce that our brand-new menus will be launching next Tuesday, the 20th! This is an exciting time for the Tavern, and we can’t wait for you to experience the delicious new offerings we’ve been working on.

Special Announcement: Early Closing on Saturday

Please be aware that the Tavern will be closing early at 6:00 PM this Saturday in preparation for our exciting new menu release next week and proper training of new staff.

We will still be open for breakfast and lunch as usual, and our bar food menu and full bar service will be available throughout the day until 6:00. We appreciate your understanding as we make these preparations to bring you an even better dining experience.

Make Your Reservations
Due to the high volume of guests on Tuesdays, especially with trivia in the back room, we strongly encourage you to make reservations. Please call the Tavern over the weekend or on Tuesday afternoon to secure your spot and avoid wait times.

New Menus, No Specials
With the release of our new menus, we will not be offering specials this coming week. This allows our staff to focus on executing the new menu items to perfection. Starting Tuesday, you’ll be able to enjoy our updated Lunch, Dinner, Cocktails, and Wine menus, along with much more.

Featuring Award-Winning Engelheim Wines
We are proud to announce that we now carry Engelheim Vineyards wines! Engelheim is home to over 20+ awards, including double gold and silver medals from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Most of the wines we’re offering are estate-grown, showcasing the best of what Georgia has to offer.

Locally Sourced Ingredients
In addition to our new wine offerings, we’ve also sourced local, fresh trout and beef. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing more about these fantastic local suppliers who are helping us bring the best flavors to your table.

Horse Pals

Simba

Simba is a Spanish Mustang. He is a buckskin color and a gelding. Simba has a strong constitution and great feet, which is really important for horses. Simba has a sweet personality and is great with the kids. Simba is an intuitive animal, and once he gets to know someone, he can intuit how they are feeling, and he reacts accordingly. You may not believe that but if you rode him often, you would get it. Simba can relax himself to the point that he can fall asleep fully saddled while waiting for his mount in the arena, so you always want to announce as you approach, just in case he is dreaming. However, Simba does not fall sleep when he has a person sitting on his back (he’s intuitive remember?) Simba loves a daily head rub on his forehead. While he likes treats such as apples and carrots, he would much rather have physical affection. When he has down time and play time, you will find him rolling in the sand in the arena, just to get good and dirty, while giving himself a full body massage. If you’ve never witnessed this activity, you should; it will make you smile. Come to the stables and donate a snack of apples or carrots for the horses. Call today to schedule your next visit or ride: (706) 692-6322. See you on the trails!

Watershed - the area of land whose streams drain into a single body of water. The Bent Tree watershed includes all Bent Tree as well as surrounding mountains that drain into Lake Tamarack. Healthy watersheds provide great benefits to the people and wildlife that live there. Current Wildlife Wednesday posts highlight some critters with tight ties to the streams in our watershed.

A dragonfly emerging!  In many cultures the dragonfly is a symbol of positive transformation and change.  After spending their youth as nymphs in the water, they emerge from exoskeletons with full adult wings.
