Recycling
RECYCLING  WRONG COSTS  US ALL!

Once again, we are experiencing a high level of contamination in our recycling compactor. Our processor, West Rock, will not accept loads that are highly contaminated.  A highly contaminated load has to go directly to the landfill costing Bent Tree additional hauling and landfill tip charges.

Styrofoam, household trash and a CHRISTMAS TREE have been our main contaminants.

There is a poster at the recycling/ trash center as well as the signage at the doors explaining what can go in recycling and what can not. Please read them.

IF IN DOUBT – THROW IT OUT - throw it in the trash if you are not sure.

If you have a rental property be sure you educate your renters, they must follow our rules which may be different than where they live.

If you don’t care to recycle correctly, do not recycle at all but please, do not mess it up for the rest of your neighbors who want to have recycling.  If we don’t have recycling our trash costs will go up, costing us all.  Big Canoe lost their recycling due to contamination issues – lets not follow them.

Bent Tree Burn Policy Reminder

Public Safety recently responded to a report of a manmade outdoor fire involving burning debris. Upon arrival at the scene, the fire was promptly extinguished.  Enforcement actions were also taken.  Public Safety appreciates residents actively reporting violations of this nature that can seriously impact the lives of everyone in the community.

Because of the topography and woodland characteristics of Bent Tree, our community has a greater risk of catastrophic wildfires. That is why outdoor burning of wood, wood products, paper products, or other combustibles is strictly prohibited by our Rules and Regulations (VI,C), and violations carry a $1,000 fine. The only exceptions applicable to residents are as follows:

1. Attended charcoal or propane fire for cooking.
2. Attended propane fire with non-burning artificial media for heat and/or atmosphere.

Please follow the link below to view this in the Public Safety News section of the Bent Tree website, along with a video containing outstanding guidance on protecting your home from wildfires.
