At approximately 5:30 PM on 7/20/23, a tornado and destructive winds caused extensive damage to our community essentially without warning. Approximately 40 Bent Tree roads were obstructed by downed trees, many involving power lines. The immediate response from off-duty officers, community volunteers, and BT Operations and Admin staff was incredible. In less than 24 hours, all Bent Tree roads not affected by downed power lines were rendered passable. Bent Tree road crews have now removed over 40 loads of debris and are still working. The Safety & Emergency Management team is grateful for the overwhelming support and recovery efforts from everyone involved.

This weather incident serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of being prepared. We do not always get warnings well in advance of weather emergencies, and the height of hurricane season is quickly approaching.
