Administration Notices
Budget Workshops Scheduled
The Board of Directors scheduled three 2023 budget workshops to delve into next years financial plan. The meetings are open to the public.

The final session on operating expenses will be held on Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. in the Club Tamarack Recreation Room.

The board will be addressing the overall budget plan in November.
Paving Plans Delayed
The road paving program planned for this year has been pushed back to 2023. Bent Tree had approved a contract for paving on a portion of Little Hendricks Mountain Peak, Big Stump and Little Pine Mountain Road. The contracting company initially thought it could finish the work by the end of October, but delays in other projects they were working on would have pushed the Bent Tree work into November. Paving in colder weather is chancy and a decision was made to postpone the work to ensure we get a good finished product.
GM Search Continues
A search committee looking for candidates for the vacant general manager position has reviewed about 20 applicants and is in the process of interviewing the top prospects via Zoom. Once the list is narrowed the top candidates will be brought in for interviews and the Board of Directors will make the final decision.
‘Big Red’ has Arrived
If you’ve driven over the dam this week you may have noticed a large, red protuberance on the metal valve at the midpoint. That’s the long-awaited gear that was fabricated in Texas to operate a sluice gate 80 feet under the water. The state is requiring that the gate be exercised yearly, and Bent Tree’s has not been tested in decades. The new gear, a 750 pounder, will be used to turn the mechanism that opens the gate. However, that can’t happen until an underwater company arrives to install a trash rack over the gate. Once that occurs and the gate is operational a decision will be made about whether or not to draw down the lake to facilitate silt removal.
