WILDCAT COMMUNITY WILDFIRE DEFENSE GRANT
UPDATE
We want to thank all the residents who signed up for and wish to be part of the Community Wildfire Defense Grant. This grant has the potential to greatly enhance our community fire safety. At this point, the grant has been approved through Georgia and is now in the hands of the federal government. It must be approved at that level before any funds are dispersed. We are expecting to find out if approved or not in April. It is very possible that the approval may be delayed further though. As soon as we receive word from the federal government regarding its approval status, we will alert the community.
Work is expected to begin within two months of the grant’s approval. At this point, we have done everything we can to be prepared to initiate the program quickly. Please keep in mind that this is a 5-year program, and the work will be spread out accordingly during that timeframe. So, we encourage residents not to wait to take action with basic fire prevention activities around their homes. Once the grant is approved and it is time for your property to be assessed for hazards, a representative from the Wildcat Community will be in contact with you.

VISION SURVEY UPDATE
As you may recall, back in mid-2023, we conducted a comprehensive Community Vision Survey to gather valuable insights from our residents. Since then, the results of this survey have undergone thorough analysis by a dedicated vision committee and further deliberation by our Board of Directors.
We're pleased to announce that a comprehensive Vision Plan has been adopted based on the collective input and feedback received from all of you. This plan outlines our community's aspirations, goals, and priorities for the future.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey and contributed to shaping the future of our community. Your input is invaluable as we continue to work together towards making Bent Tree an even better place to call home.

DOG PARK CLOSURE
The dog park will be closed from April 15th- May 1st for upgrades. We apologize for any inconvenience.
There is a dog park in the City of Jasper at the City Park near Chatt Tech.

Learning Tree Sessions at The Tavern in May!
Get ready to dive into the world of Bent Tree's history, governance, operations, and finances with our upcoming Learning Tree sessions! Held on May 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, these evening classes offer a unique opportunity to learn about various aspects of our community.
Registration forms are available in the Administration Office, and a fee of $15 per person covers course materials. Enjoy a buffet and refreshments during the sessions as you delve into our community's rich history and operations.
We have 16 people registered so far!

The Thursday scramble will now begin at 5pm with the longer afternoons kicking in! Feel free to call the shop and sign up if you can play.
If you haven’t played in the scramble, we do 9-holes and pair up in teams of 4 each with an A, B, C, D player. We will assign handicaps to each team based on each players 9-hole handicap. Play lasts approximately 2 hours and we announce the winners when everyone comes in.
The cost is $5 per player and appropriate cart fees apply.

Format: 2 person teams, selecting (1) Best Ball Net for 18 holes with 85% individual Handicap.
Entry Fee: $25 Entry fee, skins are an additional $5 per player. Not optional.
Skins: Will be determined per flight.
Course Conditions: Will be determined the evening before the event.
Flights: Based on Team handicaps. Players may select any set of tees they wish, Including “Green Tees”. Gross & Net payouts per flight.
Scoring: Will be on the Patio/Pavilion immediately following play. Any ties within a flight will be determined by a chip off. |

Guess what? This is the LAST reminder to come to the Stables tomorrow at 9:45AM (if you are using the leaf blower) or 10AM or... We will be there until about 1PM, getting dirty, having fun, and making the barn clean for our equine pals and our riding guests. We hope you join us.
Order on the Trail
Horses are herd animals and as such there is a hierarchy or an order. This hierarchy is created by dominance. The alpha horse keeps other horses in their place. The order of horses on the trail follows the hierarchy, so when the trail leader announces the order of the horses, there is a valid reason, and the horses need to remain in that order. Horses are flight animals and they remember what scares them, which could be a more dominant horse, so stay in in your order. Also, give the horse in front of you some room. No one likes to be tailgated and horses don’t have eyes in the back of their heads, so they cannot see who is bumping their butt, yet they can sure feel it. Back your horse off. The Trail rides are busiest Friday through Sunday, so for the best selection of dates and times call early or choose Monday through Thursday. News from the Animal Shelter |
|
The shelter has gotten 4 new cats in the last 2 weeks. All are very friendly and all had already been fixed when we got them!!! These are lost, dumped, or left cats.
They are safe now and if no one claims them we will get them homes. Please look at these pictures.
If you want to help walk dogs we can use additional folks on our team. When we have a dog we schedule multiple walks from early morning to just before the dog’s bed time.
We can always use clumping cat litter and fancy feast canned cat food .

Since 2022 Bent Tree has partnered with Aquatic Environmental Services (AES) to assess and improve recreational fishing in Lake Tamarack. Gregory Grimes, CEO/owner of AES will discuss this partnership and the latest findings. Also our very own ‘Huff’ Huffines will share his most effective fishing techniques for the various seasons.

BAKERS NEEDED |

If you have a specialty you bake or if you want to try baking, we need you to donate baked items for our BAKE SALE at Tamarack Treasures. Cookies, cupcakes, breads, cakes, bars, pies, etc. …….. You bake it, we sell it and yummmmm, someone eats it.
All proceeds go to Lake and Wildlife projects, enjoyed by all in Bent Tree.
*Tamarack Treasures Bake Sale will be Sat. April 27 and Sun. April 28 in the Fireside Lounge Club Tamarack
*Please package in smaller disposable bags, plates, or containers. If on a cake plate etc. please mark your name clearly for return.
* If you cannot bake but would like to contribute, we need single serve water and drinks, single serve bagged chips and snack bars for the refreshment table.
